The holidays!

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

It’s the day after New Year’s and we survived the holidays here at our Fredericksburg, Texas area inn.  We do a lot of decorating for the holidays and everyone really seems to enjoy all the lights and the trees and all the decorations – including all of Bob and Austin’s stuffed animals that we line up the stairs.  We had a great time on New Year’s (stayed up too late and I think some people maybe drank too much!), and really enjoyed the incredible performance by Jake Hill of Nashville, Tennessee.  I had to laugh, though – as the people who stayed up the latest were also the ones who came first to breakfast – some people just have a lot of energy.

This week’s project is the we are going to re-do the Laurel Cottage.  Sand the floors, and do some painting.  I did have big ideas about painting the bottom half of the walls purple, but I chickened out – we’ll see what the colors are going to be.  For those of you who have always wanted to be innkeepers – after you do all the cooking, dishes, cleaning, etc. – then you do things like always maintaining, painting, etc. – never a dull moment!  Bob did a comprehensive list of projects for us to complete during our slow season – which is during the week in January and February.  There are only like 46 items on the list!  OMG!  We’re going to try to get our son, Austin to help us this week, but he is a college student – so don’t know what’s going to happen there.

Happy New Year!
